Bournemouth boasts of many attractions, but its biggest draw will always be its seven miles of soft, golden beach. With four European Blue Flags and six Seaside Awards , Bournemouth more than deserves the tag, England s Best Beach Resort.
Environmental Campaigns ( Encams ), the organization spearheading the Keep Britain Tidy campaign, has officially declared Bournemouth , better known as BoMo among the young, as the best beach resort in all of England for the past two years. And in convincing fashion too. Rated based on criteria relative to cleanliness, water purity, safety, access and facilities, Bournemouth scored 99 out of a possible top score of 100, and won over 170 other beach resorts in the country.
Lining the seven-mile beach are restaurants, cafés, bars, water sports, beach games, amusements and piers. Getting from one end of the beach to the other is also quite easy with its land trains. And to ensure that your stay at the beach is completely stress-free, there are cliff lifts, chalets, deck chairs and parasols that you can use at your convenience.
The beach also has designated areas that are completely BBQ-friendly and glass, dog and smoking-free. Keeping an eye on the safety of swimmers are the new RNLI Beach Lifeguard Teams .
The beach also plays host to a number of events that take place the whole year round.
